Day Services Employment Consultant

The Cooperating Community Programs Employment Consultant I’s are at the heart of the exceptional service we offer to disabled individuals.  Every day our Employment Consultant I’s dedicate their creativity and energy to helping the people we serve develop a higher level of independence and job related skills.  Whether it’s working at with community employer or developing sensory skills, the Employment Consultant I is there to guide and assist.

The Employment Consultant I position is ideal for people who are:
• Interested in assisting people with developing job related skills in a team environment
• Experienced with disabled individuals and looking for a company that offers the opportunity to grow as a professional

Employment Consultant I’s complete a minimum of 30 hours of training within the first 60 days of employment. 

Employment Consultant I Training Includes:
 
Medication Administration
CPR & First Aid
Person Centered Actions
Supported Employment
Alternative Intervention Techniques
Lifting and Transferring
Specialist On-Site Orientation
Shadow Shifts
 

Daily Job Duties May Include:
• Encouraging and respecting personal choice and decision making
• Documenting daily progress
• Developing and assisting individuals with educationally based assignments such as group discussion and community based activities
• Administering medication
• Assisting individuals in developing and mentoring appropriate and professional workplace interactions
• Assisting individuals in the development and support of work skills, both on-site and in the community
• Transporting individuals to and from work on a daily basis
• Ensuring that the environment is safe and clean
• Assisting with personal cares as needed
• Implementing therapeutic interventions

Position Requirements:
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Pass a motor vehicle record check with an acceptable driving record
• Possess a reliable vehicle
• Provide proof of vehicle insurance
• Ability to transport up to three people in your vehicle at one time
• Pass the Department of Human Services background check
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, oral and written
• Experience with disabled individuals preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
